Thankful for LESSONS FROM MOM
As I prepared for the Thanksgiving holidays and getting to host it this year at our home, I realized how very thankful I was for all the things my Mom taught me. She has taught me countless life lessons, but today I am thankful for the practical, elbow grease, kind of lessons. She taught me to clean, which was probably the hardest thing for her to teach me because of my lack of interest in it. She taught me to cook and to host guests. She taught me to organize and plan ahead. As I made out lists after lists of things to be done, I was grateful I knew how to do them. I am not a "cleanie" by any means but I know how to get a house clean when necessary. I know how to cook well and enjoy cooking many things. Cooking the turkey this year was exciting, not scary. I love to host a party and I know I got that from Mom and all the times she hosted parties, open houses, and just had friends over. As I cross things off my lists (that's the best part!) I try to make sure I am passing on some of these lessons to my children as well. So thanks Mom for all those times you made me help you in the kitchen, made lists for me, and stayed on me to clean my room. Yes, a clean house feels so good!
